AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS: BOOK REVEIW

I recently finished the book, Around the World in Eighty Days, By Jules Verne. For those of you who haven't read it, it's about a man named Phileas Fogg, who bets twenty thousand pounds that he could make it around the world in eighty days. He attempts this adventure with Jean Passerpartout, while a sly detective named Fix follows them, believing that Phileas Fogg is a crook. They have many adventures, and setbacks. On one of which they meet a young woman named Aouda. They travel by steamers, railways, carriages, yachts, trading vessels, sledges, and even an elephant.
I don't usually read books that aren't fantasy books. So mom made me read a classic book. I wasn't very into it at first. But as I got further into it, and they had more adventures, I got more into it. I got really into the story. I got mad when there was an unfortunate setback, and was relieved when they made up for lost time.
It is an old book, so it's written differently than most other books I read, and it starts off slow. but once I got used to the way the story was told, it was a very enjoyable read.
Overall, I liked the book. It was interesting and, once you got into it, exciting.
I'm working on expanding my horizons, book-wise, and this was fun to read.

  1. Great review! Do you think it's too early to read it to Becky and Ellie? Maybe wait a couple years?

  2. Old things are cool!!!! Glad you were willing. My brain sometimes thinks of how that old book wrote about things, well...before they existed..I'm pretty sure real people have taken that challenge based on the book..not sure...I wonder if you'd like the Scarlet Pimpernel? I love you, Grandma
